PEACE III: Belfast's Girdwood Hub
Details of a state-of-the-art inclusive community hub, on part of the former Girdwood Barracks site in north Belfast, have been revealed. Construction work gets underway next week on the project, which has a total value of £11.7 million and will bring together modern, vibrant leisure and community facilities under one roof. The Hub is funded by the EU's PEACE III Programme, and managed by the SEUPB, the Department for Social Development and Belfast City Council. The Council is leading on the development of the Hub, and will manage it on completion, while DSD is responsible for the wider development of the Girdwood Park site, which will transfer to Council ownership in April 2015.
