Reconciling the Past with the Peace of the Future

Age Concern Irvinestown and Club Cluainin, Manorhamilton will meet 8 times during the Project with an end of Project Residential in September 2010. The meetings will be held at a venue equidistant to each club. Meetings will have a duration of 6 hours including lunch and refreshment breaks. We will invite tutors to facilitate the morning sessions which will focus on life before, during and after the troubles investigating how these times have affected those present and how they are reconciling their lives to all the changes in a more peaceful Ireland. The afternoon sessions will continue the theme of the morning theory but on a lighter vein with subjects such as health and beauty care and how that has changed over the past 50 years with some pampering sessions physiotherapy also exercise, art and craft sessions. A video diary will be made to chart the progress of the Project. Along with this diary will be a written annotate in the form of a booklet giving more details to the video. We will then send the video to local schools on both sides of the border to share our experiences and to give the young generations an insight into what life was like in border regions before the troubles, during the troubles and after the troubles. The end of Project Residential will be a fun gathering of all the participants to tie up all the work done in the previous sessions and present a final video record of the progress we have achieved during the year.
