Coalisland Shared Space - PLACE Project

This project PLACE will seek to identity a shared space within Coalisland that will be open and accessible to all, particularly young people. This project will be led, designed and managed by young people representative from a mix of community and cultural backgrounds with the key aim of the project supporting them in doing so. It will allow for young people to come together and develop leadership and responsibility for creation of a peaceful and sharing PLACE that is welcoming to all and particularly for all communities who live there. The project will be implemented in two phases, the first being a capacity building and leadership for peace programme and understanding the concept of PLACE; and the second phase will be the commencement of development of PLACE. The site identified for Place is located in the Centre of the town at the Canal (beginning at the Canal towpath), a landmark site steeped in history for all communities but mainly Protestant and Catholic.
