Ratheen, Greenvale and Sullenboy – Facing the Future

The project proposed has two elements - one identified is focused on the building of community capacity, confidence, and engagement in a single identity estate aimed at building peace and starting people on a new journey towards a peaceful and more harmonious community. The second part is a project which will address the legacy of the conflict by re-imaging an area within their community that was historically controlled by the security forces. The area in question is a main access route from the estate to local schools, churches, shops etc. An important element of this will be the delivery of an arts project which will involve the participation of the young people in the area. The project will improve a poor physical environment and one which has a memory entwined within it of being linked to the conflict and a community feeling hemmed in by the security forces - a direct link to the conflict.
