The Solidarity Project

The continuing reports concerning sectarian and racial incidents among young people would suggest that there needs to be a constant series of educational programmes that address the issues about cultural identity. Upstate Theatre Project have vast experience working in this area and have developed successful drama projects confronting, reflecting upon and dramatising the issues that lie at the heart of the matter. The Solidarity Project will seek to form a youth theatre ensemble comprising of young people based in and around Drogheda who come from diverse backgrounds. It is envisaged that the group will be multi-denominational, and multicultural with due regard given to ratio of local populations. Recruitment for the group will be conducted in association with a number of community development, educational and youth sector partners and advisers.
