Sharp Focus - Schools Workshop Programme

The Sharp Focus Schools workshop programme, is a cross community drama programme involving six secondary schools in Drogheda – Sacred Heart; St. Marys; Drogheda Grammar School; St. Olivers Community College; St. Josephs CBS; and Our Ladys, Greenhills. Sixty transition year students will participate on this programme, from a cross section of society, including young people from marginalised areas and young people of minority and ethnic faith communities. Between February and April 2011, the six schools will participate in a programme of drama workshops. Some film will also be incorporated into the workshops. The workshops will specifically address issues around the theme of racism and sectarianism, and will also focus on reconciliation and integration. It will actively explore attitudes towards racism and sectarianism by challenging the participant’s perceptions of new communities. In the programme, each school will be partnered with another school, and the programme will begin and culminate in a one day workshop where all six schools will come together and will also collectively workshop through these issues.
