Cross Border Ice Hockey Initiative 2009-2010

The sport of ice hockey is a minority sport on the island of Ireland. The only two clubs actively involved in the development of junior ice hockey are the Dundalk Bulls and the Belfast Giants. While the two clubs have competed competitively against each other in the past, no joint initiatives have taken place at junior level to further the development of the sport on an all-Ireland basis. This project is an attempt to address this void. Given this background, the aim of this initiative is to develop positive relations and closer cooperation between the two organisations. By doing so, it is hoped that through the sport of ice hockey progress can be made towards reconciling communities and the development of a peaceful and stable society for all.
