Louth VEC ABCD Project

Louth VEC wants to extend its work in capacity building with the ethnic minority groups by offering an additional training programme in ABCD Development as per the proposal below. This capacity building is a new and innovative method of training and engagement and does not form part of the original remit of our current PEACE III Project. It is developed in the US and is supported by First Lady and ABCD faculty member Michelle Obama. The ABCD Development approach has a proven track record in building stronger more inclusive communities. Its great appeal lies in its emphasis on the local capacity to bring about such change based on the strengths of groups who are all too often viewed as deficient and needy. This programme instead starts from the premise that the participants are change makers of today who can make significant contributions to local society. Louth VEC believe this innovation training programme would make a substantial approach to sustainable peace in Co.Louth. The main training project will use Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) to build bridges between the ethnic minority communities and Indigenous Communities. This specific capacity building training will be supplemented with English classes on cultural awareness.
