Diversionary Youth Project

The aim is to employ a dedicated full time youth worker experienced in interface issues. They will target young people 12 to 18 years of age. Mixed gender and mixed religions. Many of these young people have left school with no academic qualifications and no positive vision for the future. The youth need support at an individual level and group level to cope with the issues they experience living in an area of such high level of social disadvantage - in terms of family dysfunction, low employment, high dependency on drugs and alcohol, low self esteem and low educational achievement, and sectarian tension and violence.
