Leadership in a Changing Community

GVRT wishes to deliver, in partnership with local groups and individuals, a far-reaching reconciliation and peace-building programme that challenges prejudices and encourages positive leadership in tackling sectarianism and racism. The Village area of South Belfast suffered greatly through the conflict, with many wounds still raw and much tension continuing to manifest itself along the interface with West Belfast, and is now facing a new community relations issue relating to tensions between the indigenous population and their new migrant neighbours. There is, therefore, a great need to work intensely with the residents, stakeholders, Church representatives, schools, etc. to devise a series of measures that will address their underlying fears, concerns and aspirations for the future of their area.
