Project Details

Reconciliation Therapy Service

Within this project we will deliver a range of both group based and one to one counselling interventions for people who have been directly and indirectly affected by the past troubles and current effects of sectarianism and community tension. The aim of the counselling will be to assist them in acknowledging the impact of the past upon them personally and to enable them to identify and respect difference and to effectively build relationships with individuals from different backgrounds in the future, thereby contributing to the development of good relations. This work will challenge the views of individuals using a model of practice which has been extensively used within our organisation. We will run counselling sessions for individuals and groups in their own community settings, in our offices and in local schools with the aim of promoting reconciliation and building reconciliation practice. As we principally work in areas of North Belfast the majority of individuals involved in this programme will be experiencing social exclusion, segregation and conflict.
