Who Do We Think We Are?

The Who Do We Think We Are? project will combat sectarianism (religious and political) and racism by delivering a programme of community based training and networking opportunities with strategically selected communities across Co. Louth. The project will run for three months from the beginning of March until the end of May 2011. Who Do We Think We Are? will use a whole community approach across three selected areas. These communities will engage in a training programme specifically designed to combat sectarianism (political and religious) and racism. Through a community-based training programme issues of prejudice, conflict and racism through an exploration of personal and cultural identity; genealogical research on the cultural background of the communities involved (now and in the past); community history; and stories and experiences of new immigrant communities in Co. Louth. They will also receive I.T training in designing a project website which will document their learning and increase its impact across the county and on national and international level as a model for other communites attempting to deal with problems of sectarianism and racism. The communities involved will have a networking opportunity at the beginning of the project and Who Do We Think We Are? will culminate in a project showcase event in May 2011.
