Musgrave Therapy Garden

The development of a peace-themed therapy garden building upon the significant relationship-building work of the Peace Programmes and creating a new shared space in order to address the specific needs of disadvantaged groups. Simultaneously encouraging the wider public to support proactively relationship-building and increasing interaction between communities. The project seeks to: 1. Provide a permanent resource for stimulatory and interactive play for both local, relevant organisations and the wider community, which would contribute to shared space, and was designed specifically to encourage interaction between children and all sections of the community and of all abilities and to promote interaction with the outdoor environment.2. Provide features aimed at strengthening the sensory systems of children using the therapy garden in order to develop body and spatial awareness, particularly in children with physical disabilities and severe learning difficulties; and 3. Provide an opportunity for the local community to contribute for directly to the design and development of an attractive shared space in the City, which would be situated within a neutral area and owned by its users, thus encouraging effective inter-community interaction.
