Cross Border Women's Reconciliation Project

This project seeks to build on the work of the Cross Border women's Reconciliation project, which commenced in Sept. 08 as a partnership between SCEPW and Fermanagh Womens Network, with the aim of "building relationships and developing mutual understanding between women in South Donegal and North Fermanagh through the delivery of a reconciliation-community arts training programme". The phase II is comprised of two key actions: Capacity building - for the cross border steering group already established. Specifically this will focus on an in-depth exploration of reconciliation, cultural identity, sectarianism and creating a sustainbale network within 2 residential settings. Hosting 1 residential - for participants from South Donegal and North Fermanagh who will have completed the reconciliation-community arts training programme. Specifically this will focus on developing enhanced mutual understanding and exploring a shared vision for the future. Past experience of both SCEPW and FWN has been that facilitated residentials are invaluable in terms of building and deepening relationships, which is a necessary basis for furthering any type of cross community engagement. In addition, residentials provide a space for social interaction, a space which can be extremely difficult to factor in to a training programme or steering group meeting.
