Fiach Arts Circle

The project will assemble representative samples of all written work of literary value, past and present, from the Stranorlar Electoral area and neighbouring areas. It will edit them and publish them as three books of not less than 200 pages each and print not less than 1,000 copies of each. Book 1 will be in Ulster-Scots, and English influenced by Ulster-Scots. Book 2 will be in Irish, and English influenced by Irish. Book 3 will be in English with emphasis on literature produced by the Diaspora. Books will then be distributed free to libraries, and public and other bodies. The Fiach Arts group and the Castle Artists, Castlederg will select themes, scenes, and motifs from this body of literature and use them to produce approximately 25 – 30 paintings inspired by texts from the three books. It is planned to host a revolving art exhibition for two weeks every year when these paintings would be on a revolving exhibition. Conor Malone, Manager of the Balor Theatre has agreed to host the annual show. When the exhibition is firmly established in this locality it would then be taken throughout the length and breadth of Ireland and would foster more enlightened relationships between Protestant, Catholic and Presbyterian citizens.
