Interpreters Programme

This project will involve the provision of a locally based interagency service to support service providers in terms of accessing interpretation and translation services. It will involve: Working with organisations in the county to ensure that there is an effective interpretation policy in place and that staff are adequately trained within this area; Establishing and maintaining a database of trained community interpreters for Donegal. This will include developing a code of conduct and practice for interpreters; Developing an inventory of specialist services and other language resources available in the county and promote the availability of these services to service providers so that they are aware that this resource is available to assist them when working with ethnic minorities and other minority communities.
