Inishowen Integration Through Technology

The INIT Project aims to strengthen cross community links in East Inishowen by creating sustainable relationships between staff and pupils from a Protestant and a Catholic school - using information Technology tools, such as interactive whiteboards, websites, laptops and email. The projects secondary aim is to address the relative disadvantage these two small schools face in terms of resources by providing a major IT skills boost to the children who attend them. In this disadvantaged region, there are also many children who would not have access to computer technology at home. Thirdly, it is hoped that the stronger the relationships between these children from small classes will help them settle in better at second level, when they will be joining much larger groups of children who have been in class tgether and know each other already.
