Convoy Development Support Project

The concept is to allow CDDA Ltd to build on the work initiated through the employment of a project manager funded by Peace II from Sept 06 - 08 focusing particularly on capacity building and community development. It is envisaged that this project would focus particularly in working with the older members of our community with an intergenerational focus being provided with interaction with the youth of the area being developed. Youth and older people are two of the target groups identified from our Social Audit as severely disadvantaged in our area in terms of social isolation. It is also envisaged that cross border links would be developed with similar organisations to provide culture diversity and groups working together to promote unity and reconciliation at both a local and a cross border level. At a more local level the CDDA Ltd has identified the need for continued work with other groups in the community to promote solidarity, tolerance and respect i.e. create an opportunity for individuals and groups to come together in a semi-formal facilitated location so that problems within the area can be discussed and measurable outcomes achieved. This would also include a social aspect so that people could meet new friends and understand the challenges of respective individuals i.e. single parents, older people, and young people.
