Newtowncunningham Interchurch Housing Association Ltd

The overall project for this group has been to provide Social Housing and a Day Centre targeted at Elderly. It is intended that these units of housing will provide good quality homes in a safe and secure environment where company will be close and independent living will be supported. It is hoped that as homes the centre will be homely, inviting, welcoming and a melting pot of traditions, support networks, respect and learning for both young and old. In order to ensure our tenants do not feel institutionalised but comfortable the committee feel it is important to provide suitable surroundings and equipment in the centre to encourage the tenants from all backgrounds and traditions to be proud of their new community – leading to participation and stronger usage of the centre. As part of our project we aim to engage in a programme of events where both young and older learn with and from each other whilst promoting greater inter community, cross community and cross border participation and awareness.
