Faith, Culture, Equality and Healthcare and its relevance in Co Donegal

This proposal aims to explore the relevance and role of faith and culture within a healthcare context in order to increase greater tolerance and understanding of religious and cultural diversity, and increase the capacity of the organisation to respond to the faith and cultural needs of patients within a patients within a healthcare context. To do this project will: 1. Undertake research into how faith and cultural needs are currently catered for within a healthcare context in two sites, Donegal Hospice and Letterkenny General Hospital. 2. Identify models of good practice in other jurisdictions regarding faith, culture and healthcare. 3. Facilitate a discussion across churches and religious organisations regarding best practice in meeting faith and cultural needs in a healthcare setting. 4. Identify and implement practical actions aimed at increasing greater tolerance and understanding of religious diversity, faith, culture and healthcare.
