Bluestack Foyle Buddy Programme

The Blustack-Foyle Buddy programme is a pilot cross border befriending project that matches volunteers from Derry-Londonderry and Donegal with young people and adults living in Derry-Londonderry and Donegal with special needs (people with physical, sensory and intellectual difficulties), so that they can enjoy regular, social and leisure activities and participate fully from an inclusive perspective in normal community life. The programme will also offer the families of dependents with special needs much needed and deserved respite opportunities. Families have for too long fought to get the services that are needed by their dependents, often with more disappointment than victories. It is essential that people with special needs are offered the opportunity to develop friendship outside their normal family circle, participate in community life and enjoy the simple pleasures of having fun wih a buddy.
