Fort Dunree Remembrance Project

Fort Dunree in conjunction with a local group called the Inishowen Friends of Messines have for the last four years been running a very successful Remembrance Day in memory of the men and women of Inishowen who died in World War I. This event has attracted people from all over the island of Ireland, from all sections of the community, some of whom had never crossed the border before. It is hoped that funding can be made available to host this event for the next two years and also to widen the impact by holding workshops and seminars aimed at exploring the shared history of Catholics and protestants of ireland during world War 1.
